Roundtable I: The Ongoing Journey: Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture Policy from the Perspective of Public Institutions

On 14 October  2022, the International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) hosted a roundtable titled “The Ongoing Journey: Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture Policy from the Perspective of Public Institutions.” This event brought together experts and stakeholders to share and discuss the latest advancements and best practices in environmental and agricultural policies across Europe. The roundtable emphasized the importance of sustainable practices, the role of public institutions in driving these initiatives, and the modalities to translate them into the context of the Western Balkans.

Participants engaged in dialogues, exchanging their experiences on policy implementation, challenges, and successes. The event emphasized the need for collaboration and innovation to address environmental and agricultural issues as an important step towards a more sustainable future.

The role of citizens on EIA in Kosovo and WB – Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa

Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, JMO Module Coordinator for “ENACT”, participated in the European Regional Conference titled “Environmental Assessments and the European Green Deal ’22” held in Vodice, Croatia, from 14th-17th September 2022. She presented the crucial role of citizens in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes in Kosovo and the Western Balkans. Highlighting the Jean Monnet module “ENACT”, she discussed the current EIA frameworks, the challenges faced, and the transformative potential of public participation in improving environmental governance. Her insights underscored the importance of active citizenship in achieving transparency and sustainable development in the region.

International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) announces an open call for the enrolment of 20 students on the module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture” in the
the academic year 2022-2023 within the Jean Monnet project as a part of the ERASMUS+ program.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The main goal of the ENACT module is to enable and provide education and continuous training in the field of Environmental and Agriculture Policy using the best EU practices. In that way, the module will serve as a strong ground in the creation of modern educational services about environmental and agriculture policy, aiming to achieve sustainable development in the
region. The module aims to enhance the competencies of young people in environment and agriculture management who want to advance previously gained knowledge and learn more
about the politics of EU integration.
Lectures within the ENACT module will start on November 18th 2022, at IBC-M in Mitrovica. The module consists of three courses: 1) Environmental and Agriculture Legislation of the EU, 2) Agri-Environmental Economics and Sustainable Growth: EU Practice, and 3) Nature Protection and Environmental Impact Assessment in the EU. The official language of lectures and other project activities is English.
Students who successfully complete all assignments within the ENACT module will be awarded the ENACT certificate. The certificate will be issued by IBC-M and will represent a document
that verifies gained knowledge, skills and competencies. Participation in the ENACT module is free of charge for all students. The implementation of the ENACT module is organized under the Jean Monnet ERASMUS+ programme.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
Students eligible to enrol the ENACT module are those who have:
– at least a Bachelor’s degree in the field of environment, agriculture, economics, law, EU
studies.

UNIVERSITY OF PELOPONNESE HOSTED THE JEAN MONNET’S PROFESSORS FROM IBC-M

Jean Monnet professors Dr. Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa and Dr. Jelena Djokic were hosted by the University of Peloponnese during the week 18th – 22nd of July 2022, participating in a staff exchange activity. Mobility was used to strengthen ties and expand cooperation between the University of Peloponnese and IBC-M. The focus of the discussion, among other things, was the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture” so Dr. Kerolli-Mustafa and Dr. Djokic share their experience regarding all relevant issues when it comes to this module.

 

JEAN MONNET MODULE PRESENTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MALTA

The training within the Erasmus+ project “Improving the Process of Education Through the Development of E-learning Multimedia Platform and Smart Classrooms – Smartel”, that IBC-M participates in, took place from 21st to 23rd of June 2022 at the University of Malta. During this event, multiple training sessions have been organized for several project partner institutions from the Western Balkan and EU. As the opportunity for the project partners to disseminate and share their experience and expertise on digital education policies, technological infrastructure management for distance learning and approaches to hybrid lesson design and delivery that would bring entirely new study experience for the students, the Jean Monnet professor Dr. Jelena Djokic presented the ENACT module.

The promotion of Erasmus+ projects promotion on TV with national coverage

JMO Module Coordinator for the “ENACT” program, IBC-M Director, Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, on 17 June 2022, engaged in a discussion on Klan Kosova TV, a nationally broadcasted television network. Prof Kerolli elaborated on the internationalization efforts and various projects that have been granted to the International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) as part of the Erasmus+ program, including the Jean Monnet module ENACT „Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture“. She highlighted the large impact of the Erasmus+ programme on improving educational standards, developing networking and cross-border collaboration, and promoting the overall objectives of the Erasmus+ initiatives in Kosovo and within the Western Balkans region. Professor Kerolli underscored the importance of such programs in driving academic excellence and global engagement for students and staff at IBC-M.

 

JEAN MONNET’S PROFFESOR AT THE TEIRESIAS CENTRE AT MASARYK UNIVERSITY IN BRNO, CZECH REPUBLIC

International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) was participating in a study visit of the Teiresias Centre, the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. The study visit was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ project Inclusive tertiary Education in the West Balkans (IDEA) from 9th to 11th May 2022 at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic.

Jean Monnet professor Dr. Jelena Stanojevic, participating in this three-day study visit, used the opportunity to introduce to participants the ENACT module, its concept, and structure, sharing the experience on the best European practices in environment and agriculture. Given that the study visit was dedicated to both academics and non-academics interested in the topic of inclusive education, the valuable experience on the ENACT module attracted the attention of participants.

ENACT MODULE PRESENTED TO THE RESEARCHERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

“International Scientific Conference on New Achievement in Science, Technology and Arts – Icna-Sta”, has gathered around 120 researchers from ResearchCult project partner universities from Kosovo, Italy, Croatia and Bulgaria, as well as from USA, Poland, North Macedonia, Albania and other countries. The two-day conference in April 2022 was supported with the Erasmus + project “Enhancing Research Culture in Higher Education in Kosovo” (ResearchCult). The conference was hosted by the University Haxhi Zeka in Peja, and co-organized by IBCM and universities in Kosovo and international partners. The conference, promoting international collaboration and exchange of recent scientific research work in various scientific fields, was a great opportunity for Dr. Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa as the academic coordinator and core lecturer of the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)” to present and share updates to participants regarding the ENACT module and its curricula.

INITIAL TRAINING OF ACADEMIC ADVISORS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DONJA GORICA IN PODGORICA

The International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) was participating in 3 days of training sessions organized during the study visit to the University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica, Montenegro. This activity was part of the project “Inclusive tertiary education in the West Balkans –IDEA”, held from the 3rd until 7th of April 2022.

Jean Monnet professor Dr. Jelena Stanojevic participated in the training and a panel discussion providing inputs regarding the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)”. The panel discussion was a unique opportunity to share an experience regarding the ENACT module, and relevant topics, and delivered workshops and classes. The valuable experience on the pedagogical model “from theory to practice”, established and implemented at IBC-M was shared with participants, as well as ENACT multi-disciplinary approach which covers environmental, economic, and social aspects.

 

JEAN MONNET’S PROFESSORS VISITED THE UNIVERSITY OF DONJA GORICA IN MONTENEGRO

International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) was participating in an Initial Training of Registrar Office, Voluntary Support & Transport Services’ Coordinator within the framework of Erasmus+ project “Inclusive tertiary Education in the West Balkans (IDEA)”. The training has been organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), from 22nd to 24th February 2022 at the University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Jean Monnet’s professors Dr. Jelena Djokic and Dr. Jelena Stanojevic participated in the training and a panel discussion providing inputs regarding the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)”. The panel discussion was a unique opportunity to get familiar with the ENACT curricula and its structure based on the theoretical and practical approach delivered in regular classes, workshops and forums. Professors Djokic and Stanojevic shared their experience on the pedagogical model “from theory to practice”, established at IBC-M, which allows all participants to collaborate on tasks, create their resources and apply theory into practice. The ENACT module presents a multi-disciplinary approach including environment, agricultural economics and social links.
