Within the framework of the project “Empowering University Autonomy and Increasing Accountability and Transparency in Western Balkan Universities (STAND)”, an Erasmus+ project coordinated by IBC-M, a roundtable discussion was held on the 9th December 2021 in premises of the University of Pristina. The event, organized by IBC-M and the University of Pristina as project partners, was a great opportunity for prof. dr Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa as the academic coordinator and core lecturer of the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)” to present and share updates to participants regarding the ENACT module and its curricula. Designed to promote research on EU issues, foster an introduction of EU angle into certain fields of study and dissemination of the results of academic research, the ENACT module caught the attention of participants and encouraged discussion on the best practices in research and teaching experience related to environment and agricultural economics according to the EU standards.

International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) announces an open call for the enrolment of 20 students on the module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture” in the
the academic year 2021-2022 within the Jean Monnet project as a part of the ERASMUS+ program.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The main goal of the ENACT module is to enable and provide education and continuous training in the field of Environmental and Agriculture Policy using the best EU practices. In that way, the module will serve as a strong ground in the creation of modern educational services about environmental and agriculture policy, aiming to achieve sustainable development in the
region. The module aims to enhance the competencies of young people in environment and agriculture management who want to advance previously gained knowledge and learn more
about the politics of EU integration.
Lectures within the ENACT module will start on November 19th 2021, at IBC-M in Mitrovica. The module consists of three courses: 1) Environmental and Agriculture Legislation of the EU, 2) Agri-Environmental Economics and Sustainable Growth: EU Practice, and 3) Nature Protection and Environmental Impact Assessment in the EU. The official language of lectures and other project activities is English.
Students who successfully complete all assignments within the ENACT module will be awarded the ENACT certificate. The certificate will be issued by IBC-M and will represent a document
that verifies gained knowledge, skills and competencies. Participation in the ENACT module is free of charge for all students. The implementation of the ENACT module is organized under the Jean Monnet ERASMUS+ programme.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
Students eligible to enrol the ENACT module are those who have:
– at least a Bachelor’s degree in the field of environment, agriculture, economics, law, EU
studies.

IBCM Hosts a Guest Lecturer for Jean Monnet Module on Forest Protection and Biodiversity Conversation
On July 3, 2021, the International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) hosted Professor Hari Tuomola from Finland as a guest lecturer. His engagement was within the Jean Monnet Module “Best European Practice in Environment in Agriculture,” a program designed to improve students’ knowledge of European Union policies and practices, particularly in the area of environmental protection and agriculture.
Professor Tuomola’s lecture centered on the crucial topic of “Forest Protection and Biodiversity Conservation.” His presentation was significant for Kosovo, since it addressed the urgent need to protect our forests and preserve biodiversity in the face of growing environmental challenges. His discussion elaborated the EU’s approach to forest protection and biodiversity conservation, providing an overview of the policies and regulations that guide EU member states in safeguarding their natural resources.
Professor Tuomola shared best practices from various EU countries, showcasing successful initiatives and projects that have made a positive impact.
IBCM Hosts a Guest Lecturer for Jean Monnet Module on Environmental Protection and Global Climate Change
On Friday, July 2nd, 2021, the International Business College Mitrovica (IBC-M) hosted Mr. Omar Siddique, Head of Office and Chief Technical Advisor of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Kosovo Office, as a guest lecturer. The event, organized under the Jean Monnet Module, was a significant part of Professor Jelena Djokic’s course and drew considerable attention from students.
Mr. Siddique’s lecture focused on the critical issues of environmental protection and global climate change, framed within the broader context of the ENACT—Jean Monnet module—Best European Practice on Environment and Agriculture. The ENACT project is an initiative aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and promoting sustainable practices among students and the wider community based on best European practices.
The lecture started at 18:00 for IBC-M Master students, and it was a good opportunity for everyone to gain insights from a leading expert in the field, Mr. Siddique. He shared his extensive experience and knowledge, covering key topics such as the impact of climate change on urban environments and sustainable development practices.
Students had the opportunity to engage directly with Mr. Siddique during a dynamic Q&A session. They posed questions about the practical aspects of environmental protection and the specific challenges faced by Kosovo in this context. Professor Jelena Djokic expressed her gratitude to Mr. Siddique for his enlightening lecture, noting its alignment with the goals of the Jean Monnet Module in promoting European integration and understanding of critical global issues.
IBCM Hosts a Guest Lecturer for Jean Monnet Module on Harmonization of Kosovo Acquis with the EU on Environmental Protection
On June 30, 2021, the International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM) hosted Professor and Judge Remzije Istrefi from the Constitutional Court as a guest lecturer. This event was part of the Jean Monnet Module “Best European Practice in Environment in Agriculture,” a program designed to deepen students’ understanding of European Union policies and practices, especially in agriculture and environmental protection.
Professor Remzije Istrefi’s lecture, “Harmonization of Kosovo Acquis with the EU on Environmental Protection,” provided an in-depth view of the critical steps Kosovo must take to align its legal framework with EU standards. She started by explaining the Kosovo acquis and its essential role in the nation’s legal system. Emphasizing the need for robust legal structures to tackle environmental issues, she highlighted the importance of sustainable development.
The discussion then shifted to the EU environmental acquis, a comprehensive set of regulations and directives that member states are required to adopt. These cover a broad range of areas, including air and water quality, waste management, biodiversity, and climate change. Professor Istrefi underscored the complexities and challenges Kosovo faces in this harmonization process, such as the need for building institutional capacity, raising public awareness, and ensuring political commitment to the environmental agenda.
ERASMUS+ INFORMATIVE SESSION
On the 20th May 2021, IBC-M hosted an ERASMUS+ Informative Session that was organized in cooperation with ERASMUS+ Kosovo office. The following topics were covered: novelties under the 2021 call for proposals; Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters; Erasmus Mundus Design Measures; Jean Monnet, as well as, specifics for the 2022 call with a special focus on International Credit Mobility and projects for Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education.
The newest update on ERASMUS+ projects currently implemented at IBC-M were introduced by Project Management and Business Development office led by Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa, IBC-M College Director. Results achieved so far in project implementation and all benefits that IBC-M students and staff can obtain by being engaged in those projects were presented to all participants during the event. A special attention was paid to the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)”. The module has been introduced within the Environmental and Agricultural Management Department for existing IBC-M students, but at the same time is open to students from partnering institutions through roundtable debates and workshops/seminars and training to the working professionals.
ENACT MODULE PRESENTED DURING THE CONFERENCE FOR LAUNCHING THE ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR THE CURRENT STATE OF RESEARCH CAPACITIES IN KOSOVO
The conference for launching the Assessment Report for the current state of research capacities in Kosovo universities was organized on 30th of April 2021 as part of the project “Enhancing Research Culture in Higher Education in Kosovo (ResearchCult)”, an Erasmus + project financed by European Union and coordinated by IBC-M. The conference that was organized in a hybrid format (with physical presence and online) was participated by Kosovo universities, European universities, Ministry of Education in Kosovo and other project partners. Mr. Harri Tuomola, Executive director of IBC-M, the representative of the EU office in Kosovo, Mr. Stergios Tragudas, Ms. Jehona Lushaku from the Erasmus+ in Kosovo and Mr. Agron Bajraktari – on behalf of the Rectors conference greeted the organization of the conference.
The conference continued with the presentation from Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli–Mustafa, IBC-M College Director, as well as the academic coordinator and core lecturer of the Jean Monnet module “Best European Practices in Environment and Agriculture (ENACT)”. The conference was a unique opportunity for participants to get familiar with the ENACT module which aim is reflected in providing education and continuous training in the field of environment and agriculture according to the EU standards. Prof. Kerolli-Mustafa emphasized that ENACT module strives to build capacity on the best European practices in environment and agriculture and to prepare the country for negotiations on EU accession as well to contribute to the achievement of EU policy on agriculture and rural development and EU Environment Action Programmes. The conference was attended by the key ENACT academic staff: Dr. Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa, Dr. Jelena Djokic, Dr. Jelena Stanojevic and Dr. Ekrem Gjokaj.
Jean Monnet’s professors address to the online environmental forum at IBC-M College in Mitrovica
A forum bringing together IBC-M faculty and students’ future environmentalist on April 22, was organized to commemorate Earth Day, as an annual event. Panel discussions and presentations engaged with key topics were focused on the following areas: How to make the Earth a better place through reduced waste generation, water conservation, ensure food safety and quality and enhance sustainability of green businesses.
Jean Monnet’s professors Prof Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, Prof. Dr. Jelena Djokic and Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gjokaj participated in a panel discussion and provided inputs regarding the environment and their activities in this sphere, as well as on the way of realizing a practical approach towards future environmental policy implications and citizens respond.

The module consists of three courses: 1) Environmental and agriculture legislation of the EU, 2) Agri-Environmental economics and sustainable growth: EU practice, and 3) Nature protection and environmental impact assessment in EU. The official language of lectures and other project activities is English.
Students, who complete all assignments within the ENACT module, will be awarded the ENACT certificate and ECTSs. The certificate will be issued by IBC-M and will represent a document that verifies gained knowledge, skills, and competences. The ECTS can be count and transferred to regular studies.
Participation in the ENACT module is free of charge for all students. The implementation of the ENACT module is organized under the Jean Monnet, ERASMUS+ programme.
